Garden Villa
On the south side of a gently curving street in a historic Houston neighborhood is this two story, 8,900 sf. residence.
The first floor consists almost entirely of rooms for entertaining with access to exterior play and gathering spaces. The Living Room faces both street and pool courtyard and takes natural light from matching north and south facing windows. The bar west of the Living Room has French doors to access back yard and pool directly. The Dining Room opposite the Living Room is the northernmost room of a suite of rooms that includes stair, powder, Kitchen, Family, Mudroom and garage. Service rooms connected end to end on the east form a path that compliments the west circulation shaded by an accoya trellis.
The trellis extends through the Entry and becomes a vertical screen for the second floor sitting room. Outdoor Covered Seating, Outdoor Dining, Summer Kitchen and Game Room are grouped in a one-story structure south of the pool and lawn. The strong relationship between indoor and outdoor space elevates outdoor space from residual to purposeful: essential for physical activity and shared family time.
